cheap lasik eye surgery chicago Human interaction has always interested me. I was told that I should consider being a psychologist when I was a young teenager growing up in the mid-west. This early interest then developed into my career focus. In my study of the human psyche (our thoughts, feelings and perceptions) I have come to understand that we have 4 main layers or bodies: The physical body, the emotional body, the mental body and the etheric or spiritual body. Just like a car’s 4 tires, if any of our bodies are “low on air”, then the ride through our life will not be as smooth as it could be. I realized that if we choose to work with our issues by focusing on the mental and emotional levels, then we can possibly save ourselves from experiencing a lot of future pain or dis-ease. This understanding inspired me to begin my training as a psychotherapist. (A therapist for the psyche… the mental and emotional levels.) I received my Masters degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from John F. Kennedy’s Graduate School of Consciousness Studies. My tract was in Intuition…learning to hone mine and to help my clients to trust theirs.
http://seanpaxtonmusic.com/?author=1 As a psychotherapist I have helped hundreds of clients reach their goals for over 25 years now. The work continues to deepen and grow as it teaches and inspires me. Questions that draw both my attention and that of my clients include: What helps us to be happy? What helps us to appreciate ourselves and our lives? What gives us the courage and strength to make any changes that we realize are needed? How do we find and then live our life purpose? How do we get from where we are to where we want to be?
I work with healthy people who want to get healthier. My clients range from as young as 2 years old, up through their 90s. Working with adults who want to reach a deeper layer of themselves is one of my specialties. I also specialize in helping couples to communicate more effectively and work more smoothly as a team. I also work with families and parenting teams to help them to understand and appreciate each other’s strengths and gifts.
For clients who are drawn to work with dogs or cats, I utilize the grounding, unconditional love of animals in pet therapy. I offer the choice of 3 different dogs and 3 different cats to work with. In addition to drawing on intuition and more traditional forms of psychotherapy, I at times utilize a technique called Voice Dialogue, which helps clients understand and work with different aspects of their psyche that may appear at first to be at odds.
My clients work with me on a weekly basis. Individuals come for a 55 minute hour and couples often work for an 85 minute hour and a half session. The work unfolds and deepens with time spent together. There is “homework” given, although not mandated, it can help to move you forward in your progress at a quicker rate. The fee for a 55minute session is $130, and for an 85 minute session is $185. Receipts are given on a monthly basis if requested. I am also a preferred provider on some insurance plans such as First Choice, Regence, Uniform Medical, Anthem Blue Cross and Aetna – then you would be responsible simply for covering your deductible/co-insurance/co-pay.
